⭐ Call for Dancers + Performers 🌈

I am looking for dancers/performers for my new work Orfeo in November 2024 in partnership with Tanzfabrik Berlin.

Constituting part of my trilogy investigating and reimagining dominant narratives in art history from a non-European perspective, works in the series include Sarabande and Solo for Boy. This time I take music and myth as the focus of her investigation, performatively investigating the history and continuing presence of these stories around us.

ROLE

  • Performers with contemporary dance training and strong stage presence, comfortable with a variety of performative states and intensities, and ability to grasp choreographic detail;

  • Performers who are not racialised-as-white and/or with roots outside of Europe;

  • Comfortability and preferably some experience with using voice, speaking text, and singing;

  • All body types encouraged to apply;

  • Performers with German tax status and a base in Berlin (we cannot provide or arrange accommodation)

Please indicate if you have musical experience or a practice, including singing, playing an instrument, etc.

PROCESS DATES

  • 2 weeks in May 2024 tbc

  • 2 weeks in June 2024

  • 2 weeks in September 2024

  • Final week + premiere November 2024

The audition weekend is not paid. The project is paid.

During the April weekend we will explore different creation exercises, tasks, and take a dance class together.
